Main Menu Navigation and Icons
Our themes allow you to have nested submenus in the main navigation. To add a submenu, create nested menu links with two or three levels in the Shopify admin.
The first-level menu items are reserved for your main, top-level categories. For example, your top-level menu items might be Tops, Bottoms, Dresses, and Jackets. You can use second-level menu items as titles of third-level menu items; otherwise second-level menu items will act as a link. When using the second-level menu as a title, we suggest linking these items with the same parent page. For example, you may want to filter your top-level selection in different ways, so your second-level menu items may be titles such as Category, Fabric, or Color. Place your links to each sub-collection in third-level menu items. For example, one sub-category may be Tops > Long-Sleeve Tops and you can link to your collection of Long-Sleeve Tops in the third-level menu. Another example may be Bottoms > Knit Fabric and here you would link to your collection of bottoms made in knit fabric.
- To create or edit your main menu, Go to Online Store > Navigation in the Shopify admin.
- Select the Main menu or the menu you want to edit.
- Add a top-level link (for example: "Tops") in your Main menu that will open the submenu and contain the nested sub-links.
- Add your second-level menu items and use the drag handles
⋮⋮
to move them under the top-level link. These shoud be titles only and not links.
- Add your third-level menu links and use the drag handles ⋮⋮ to move them under the second-level links. We highly recommend adding a "View All" link to this list.
- Click Save.
