Password protect your store
You can restrict access to your online store by adding a password page. This landing page requires all visitors to provide a password to visit your store. You can also add a Countdown timer, message, or email sign-up form. This is a great opportunity to market your store to new customers before you launch.
Password-protect your store
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
- Scroll to Password protection, and check Restrict access to visitors with a password.
- In the Password field, enter the password that you'll give to visitors who you want to provide access. Don't use the same password that you use to log into your admin.
- In the Message for your visitors field, enter the message that you want to show on the password page. If you don't want to show a message, leave this field blank.
- Click Save.
Remove password-protection from your store
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- There is a banner displayed that says, "Your online store is password protected." Click Remove password. If the banner isn't displayed, then your online store isn't password protected.
Edit your password page settings
You can edit the content that shows on your password page, such as the text, colors, sections, and typography.
- From your Shopify admin, go to Theme editor (customize) and choose Others > Password. If you don't see Password page in the menu, then follow the steps above to activate password protection on your store.
- To add or edit the sections on the password page:
- Click the section that you want to edit or click Add Section to add a new section.
- Make your desired changes to the section's settings.
- Click Save.
